Acquisition create unique opportunities for carbon fiber fabrication
August 3, 2005 (Orange City, IA) – Tec Industries announced today the acquisition of Poway, California-based Quatro Composites. The acquisition will expand TEC Industries’ carbon fiber fabrication capabilities to include compression and bladder molding techniques.
“We are thrilled to announce this acquisition,” says Dave Van Gorp, Tec Industries CEO. “Quatro Composites has a team of talented, dedicated professionals who have mastered the advanced techniques of compressions and bladder molding. They have used their skill and innovation to advance the carbon fiber fabrication industry. We believe they will be a great addition to our team at Tec Industries,” he says.
Quatro Composites serves the medical, automotive, defense, energy, and sporting goods markets with a variety of carbon fiber fabricated products. They are able to meet the advanced needs of their clientele by utilizing proprietary fabrication techniques to deliver products with advanced industrial designs, complex geometry, and unique shapes.
“Composite materials are revolutionizing the world at this moment,” said Doug Roberts, Quatro Composites Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Quatro was founded with the vision that one day the “black stuff” would be the material of choice for all products that can benefit from performance enhancement. Our vision has now become reality. Today, carbon fiber is being used as the primary material for everything from Lance Armstrong’s tour de France bicycle, to Boeing’s 787 luxury dreamliner,” he says.
“I’m looking forward to joining these two companies, this will be an exciting transition and a great opportunity to expand our opportunities for the future,” says Roberts.
Quatro joins Tec Industries with an experienced team of executives who each carry an average of 20 years of composite expertise. The company includes specialists in engineering, product development, and manufacturing.
“Tec Industries is excited to welcome the Quatro Composites to our team. We’re looking forward to the opportunity to pair our fabrication strengths and processes to provide a multitude of carbon fiber fabrication opportunities to our clients,” says Frank Sloup, Tec Industries Manager. “We believe this new partnership is a perfect fit in terms of research and development, customer service, and corporate culture,” he adds.
Tec Industries was originally created to provide MEDTEC with the composite medical devices it designs and distributes into the radiation oncology market. Tec Industries plans to have enough capacity to diversify its medical device output from radiation oncology to include devices for the diagnostic imaging and radiology markets. The addition of Quatro diversifies the company into aerospace, government contracting, and recreational markets. Tec Industries began production late last year.
