About Quatro CompositesTec Industries, LLC, dba Quatro Composites™, is an Iowa-based advanced manufacturer offering a full line of services from design, analysis, prototyping and production of advanced composite products. Quatro manufactures and engineers products for the aerospace, military / defense and medical markets. The business operates in two locations: Orange City, Iowa, (Headquarters, Manufacturing & Distribution) and Poway, California (Technical Development Center).
Quatro Composites™ was formed in May 1997 for the purpose of researching, designing, developing and manufacturing performance inspired composite products. The founders, Ken Gamble and Doug Roberts, set out to develop unique and proprietary non-autoclave process technologies that would allow high quality parts to be produced at a reduced cost.
Initially these low cost processes were employed almost exclusively in the sporting goods and consumer product markets. Over time it was discovered that these processes were capable of producing parts that would meet the demanding specifications of the aerospace and medical markets. As a result, a shift in market focus gradually occurred and today the company's revenues primarily consist of medical & aerospace markets.
In 2000 the principles initiated a vision to perform all critical processes in house. As a result CAD design, CAM programming, CNC machining, CNC pattern cutting, were all implemented so tooling, parts trimming, and pattern operations could be performed in-house.
Quatro Composites™ was acquired in August of 2005 by Tec Industries, an Iowa LLC, to further the growth and expand the capacities and capabilities of the composites market. Doug Roberts and Ken Gamble continue to serve as executives and minority owners.
Tec Industries L.L.C. was formed in June 2004. At their inception the firm’s charge was to become the key supplier partner to a major radiology, oncology medical parts manufacturer in the Midwest. The customer had experienced significant supply chain interruption from other carbon composite suppliers and had identified that carbon composites were an extremely high growth market. Inaugural manufacturing operations in the Orange City location commenced in December of 2004 with consisent, continual production runs commencing in March of 2005. In less than one year, the company had grown to over 30 employees producing medical quality autoclaved carbon composite products. The manufacturing expertise emerged quickly but Tec Industries needed industry leading, engineering and product development expertise.
In August of 2005, Tec Industries acquired California based, Quatro Composites™ Inc.
Through the vision and investments of the owners, Kirke Financial Services, Quatro Composites and Tec Industries were brought together in August 2005. Tec Industries, LLC, dba Quatro Composites continues today to operate as an Iowa based Limited Liability Corporation. The Poway, California facility operates as the leading engineering and technology center for Quatro and the Orange City, IA facilities are the Corporate Administration, Manufacturing, Warehouse and Distribution center for the company.
