Hollow structures are created by an internal bladder which exerts pressure to the prepreg composite material, thereby taking the shape of the aluminum mold.

Step 1. Preform Placement

Pre Form Placement: Loading a Mold with an Uninflated Pressure Bladder
A prepreg material is located in mold with uninflated pressure bladder connected to special fittings.

Step 2. Internal Pressure Cure

Internal Pressure Cure: Consolidating Parts with Heat and Pressure

Mold is closed with sufficient pressure to override internal forces from bladder.

Part is consolidated and cured by elevated pressure and temperature.

Step 3. Molded Part

Molded Parts are Then Inspected and then Finished with Deflashing, Painting, etc.

Bladder is extracted from molded part.

Part is deflashed and trimmed to length.

Parts are often finished with clear polyurethane for a glossy, class-A finish.
